Valedictorian Valedictorian

What an incredible privilege it is to stand before your peers, family and school faculty speaking on behalf of your Graduation Class. Memorial welcomes all interested students to apply for this prestigious honour.

Class of 2021 Valedictorian

Applications for Valedictorian must be submitted by 3:30 pm on Friday, April 9, 2021, using the Memorial Composite High School Valedictorian Application Form.

Valedictorian Criteria

  • Learning – The Valedictorian demonstrates academic excellence, earning a weighted GPA within the top two percent of the Grade 12 students.
  • Caring – The Valedictorian demonstrates citizenship and caring through extra-curricular activities and a willingness to put the needs of others at the forefront of consideration.
  • Respect – The Valedictorian demonstrates respect for his/her peers, teachers, and community.  The valedictorian is willing to mentor others, dedicate time and energy to worthwhile causes, and works toward improving his/her community.

A student who demonstrates each of these values is an excellent ambassador for Memorial Composite High School and is worthy of the honourable title, Valedictorian.

Graduation Ceremony Speeches

As well as the selection of Class Valedictorian, students interested in presenting a speech for the following, must submit their names by April 16 using the Memorial Graduation Ceremony Speeches Application Form.

  • Class Historian (Memorial Memories)
  • Tribute to Staff
  • Tribute to Families

Student speakers will be invited to a meeting during the lunch hour on April 23, 2021, in the Conference room. Memorial staff will be in attendance to present an overview of the speech criteria.
